| | CHARITY> MAIN | | HERONHURST CHARITY 2005 |
| Cancer is the UK's biggest killer. Every year it claims the lives of more than 150,000 people, with a further one million living with the disease at any one time
Marie Curie Cancer Care is working tirelessly for you and your loved-ones by challenging the disease through its work in cancer care and research | | | | | The Inca Trail 2005 |
| In September 2005 Team HERONHURST Business Development Director Emma Stuckey will realise a lifelong ambition - and help raise thousands of pounds for the HERONHURST Charity of the Year in doing so "Travel back in time to the ancient civilisation of the Inca Empire on the Inca trail, the most famous trek on the Latin American continent.
See the world famous lost city of Machu Picchu, and the sacred valleys and picturesque towns and villages of the Andes. Walk among the lush vegetation of the lower rainforest, climb through the high cloud forest and cross the snow line on the highest pass.
Walking from one beautiful ruin to the next, you will be surrounded by views of the magnificent Andes - a truly unforgettable experience"
That was how the trek was sold to Emma. Unused to mountain walks, or even regular exercise, Emma is now in training, with weekly walks around the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park and the picturesque mountains surrounding Abergavenny, home to Team HERONHURST Emma has also taken up Salsa Dancing, and is not only doing well, but really enjoy the experience along the way! To ensure every penny raised goes to those who need it most, all costs of the trek and being covered by Emma herself, leaving all the monies she and HERONHURST raise this year goes to help those who deserve it. Marie Curie Cancer Care |
| Every year the charity provides care to around 30,000 cancer patients and their families - entirely free of charge
In the community, high-quality Marie Curie Nursing gives terminally ill people the choice of dying at home, supported by their families
At the 10 Marie Curie Hospices, we actively promote quality of life for patients and again provide much needed support for their carers
The charity is also investigating the causes of cancer and better ways to treat the disease at the Marie Curie Research Institute
